Michael Anderson (Director) A native of San Francisco, Michael Anderson has worked in film and video, primarily documentaries, for over 40 years. In “Tenderloin” he has fused his documentary experience and his love for actors into an uncommon approach to feature film making: as director and photographer, he was able to “direct through the lens.” As the actors ran whole scenes, Anderson was able to follow them documentary-style, yet give direction while the action was taking place. The result? Efficiency, authenticity, short shooting days -- and a good time had by all.
Ned Miller (Writer) Ned Miller’s lengthy and varied writing career has included stints scripting feature films (“Scarab”, 1980,) music videos (Eddie Money, Huey Lewis and the News,) and computer adventure games (“Critical Path,” 1993, “Daedalus Encounter,” 1994,) as well as an award-winning children’s book (“Emmett’s Snowball.”) Over a twenty-five year span, he has won numerous awards as a writer of high-level corporate messaging media, most recently including five multimillion-dollar annual sales events for Cisco. The story and screenplay for “Tenderloin” take their inspiration from several years he spent in that neighborhood, living in a building owned by a notorious slumlord famously dubbed “The Vulture” by the San Francisco Chronicle.
Sam Rider (Producer) Sam Rider, a Bay Area native and all-around filmmaker, graduated from NYU film school and produced several films in New York and India. "Tenderloin" is one of two features he has produced in the Bay Area since his return. He also works in documentary and commercial, and was Production Coordinator on Logan and Noah Miller's "Touching Home."
